I met a guy at the Quartzsite, AZ gem and mineral show this winter whose sister makes glass beads using cremains. They are made specifically for people who want to keep the beads as a keepsake instead of the ashes. I thought they were beautiful and considered contacting her to make some out of what's left of my father in the little cloissanne jar his wife's family passed on to me. Also heard of a woman who had her cremains placed in little baggies with notes attached to give out to the attendees of her memorial. The notes explained that she wanted each recipient to take their piece of her and scatter it someplace fabulous and fascinating. That's been my personal favorite for my own remains until I read this article. I wonder if he lets you help decide how you'd like your bits and pieces immortalized on canvas...

    Hi there,

This is the Organic Artist responding to your comment, "I wonder if he lets you help decide how you'd like your bits and pieces immortalized on canvas..." Well to answer you question, yes I do allow you to choose symbols, various enhancements like, metallic highlights, glass globs or stained glass, etc. and up to five color's to choose from, when you "custom order" the Ashwork.

If it's Free Memorial Ashwork with a donation (not required) to help pay for basic materials used. Everything I use to create the piece is my choice and canvas size depends on the amount of ashes you send me, with a minimum of a half measuring cup or 8 ounces of ashes. I'm already booked for free Ashwork until December (4 per month) of this year! Of course custom order's are always welcomed and have priority over the free offer. It's a labor of love and I consider it a creative aftercare service to humanity. Of course it is not for everyone who has cremated ashes, just another alternative to choose from.

Thanks for the information. Obviously, it's not for everyone since I'm the only one who has posted a comment so far! Still, I think it's a wonderful, inventive idea that allows a loved one to live on in a beautiful work of art.

        Thanks Shebow,

I appreciate your honesty and admiration for my after care art service for humans and pets. Someday I hope to get commissions from zoo's for exotic animals, like a Panda bear, zebra or tiger, oh my!
